Floating for Children

Today I introduced my 5 and 10 year old sons to the float tank. We were doing some maintenance on the tank and my 10 year old was inside closing off one of the drains as I manipulated some of the plumbing outside. After it was done, since he was in his bathing suit anyway, he laid down to see what happened. He didn’t ask, but just tried it out, so I was kind of proud of his boldness.
His reaction was amazement and enjoyment of the moment as he became aware that he really was floating. It was an organic moment that developed without planning and we went with it. My goal as things developed was to emphasize the wonder and fun that floating can be.
After my 10 year old tried it, of course his 5 year old brother had to take a shot as well. He had a short fun float as well.
As things progress we may continue to allow the boys satisfy their curiosity about the tank, maybe even doing some supervised floats.
Enjoy the video clips.
